Nneka Ogwumike

The National Civil Rights Museum selected Ogwumike as a 2026 Freedom Award honoree, recognizing a public legacy that extends beyond basketball through WNBPA leadership, mentoring, girls in sports and civic engagement. Her decade as union president helped make player advocacy part of her basketball legacy rather than a separate chapter.
