Once Dallas secured the final berth, the conversation changed. Eight teams could stop wondering whether they belonged in the postseason and start asking what they could do there. My first question is about the players: who has put together the strongest statistical season, and how much help does each contender have behind its biggest name? This board answers that with the same W composite used in Playerpedia. Reputation does not get an extra serving. Dallas’s clinching game

A’ja Wilson sits first at 96, followed by Olivia Miles at 95. That is a striking opening: an established centerpiece beside a guard whose all-around production demands attention. The interesting arguments begin immediately behind them. Five players share 94, three share 93, and the league-leader rule changes the order of several crowded groups. A tied score now has a visible explanation.

Wilson earns the first seat

Wilson’s lead starts with production, not name recognition. Her 31.8 PER and 61.9% true shooting sit alongside league leads in scoring and blocks. The composite rewards that combination: scoring matters, efficiency matters, and defensive events count too. Her leader badges do not manufacture first place—her 96 is already higher than every other score here. They make the breadth of that season easier to see.

Miles at 95 is the board’s invitation to look past a points-only argument. Her 22.9 PER and 60.8% true shooting accompany a grade that also considers creation, rebounding, defensive activity and possession efficiency. Minnesota has Miles, Napheesa Collier and Natasha Howard in the first six. That concentration is part of what makes the Lynx so imposing: the statistical burden is spread across more than one player.

The 94 group needs precision

Aliyah Boston, Breanna Stewart, Collier, Howard and Paige Bueckers all receive 94. None leads one of this board’s nine qualified league-leader categories, so PER resolves their order: Boston’s 24.6 leads that group, followed by Stewart, Collier, Howard and Bueckers. Boston takes third overall. That is a consistent way to separate an exact score tie, not a claim that one roster role is automatically more valuable than another.

Collier’s sample deserves attention: her grade covers 11 games. She clears the current minimum, but that remains far less evidence than Howard’s 39 games. Both numbers belong in the conversation. The board preserves the published composite and exposes games played instead of quietly giving the smaller sample a reputation bonus.

A league lead has to mean something

At 93, Jackie Young’s league-leading free-throw percentage puts her ahead of Jessica Shepard and Caitlin Clark. At 92, Rhyne Howard’s leads in steals and made threes break her tie with Jonquel Jones. At 91, Kelsey Mitchell’s three-point percentage gives her the first position in a group that also includes Veronica Burton, Kayla McBride and Sonia Citron.

The 88 group shows the next layer. Angel Reese leads rebounding; NaLyssa Smith leads field-goal percentage. Both move ahead of Jordin Canada. Reese and Smith each own one leading category, so PER settles their remaining tie: 19.9 to 19.8. No category is counted twice as both a per-game lead and a total lead. And a postseason player does not inherit a crown from an eliminated team: Alyssa Thomas remains the assists leader even though Phoenix is outside this field.

Eight rosters, not eight highlight reels

The board continues beyond the stars because playoff possessions do. Washington’s Citron and Shakira Austin, Golden State’s Burton, Atlanta’s frontcourt, and the supporting groups around Indiana, New York, Dallas and Las Vegas all belong in the same searchable frame. A lower composite is a record of this season’s measured production; it does not erase a specialist’s usefulness in a particular matchup.

Atlanta’s roster also needs the present tense. DeWanna Bonner belongs with the Dream, while Aaliyah Nye and Jaylyn Sherrod have been waived. Bonner’s 82 was earned during her Phoenix season; changing teams does not retroactively turn those games into Atlanta performances. Dallas now lists Kitija Laksa. She appears without an invented grade, alongside the other roster members with no published 2026 W score. Azzi Fudd, ruled out for the season, is excluded from this playoff board. My takeaway: Wilson owns the top individual score, Minnesota places unusual strength near the top, and the ties reveal players whose excellence can disappear inside a broad letter grade. This is the starting argument for the postseason. Matchups, health and what happens under pressure will write the next one.

The composite stays intact

This edition preserves the numeric W scores published by Playerpedia at the snapshot time. It does not recalculate grades using only playoff teams. Each input is a league-relative percentile, with these weights:

PER: 24%
True shooting: 14%
Points per game: 18%
Assists per game: 10%
Rebounds per game: 10%
Steals + blocks: 8%
Win shares / 40: 10%
Assist / turnover ratio: 6%

The weighted result is scaled from 55 to 99 and rounded to a whole-number W score. Missing inputs are omitted and the available weights are rescaled. The comparison pool uses at least 10 games and 8 minutes per game in this edition. Grades below either threshold are marked provisional. Letter bands are the existing Playerpedia bands; ties here mean the same numeric score, not just the same letter.

The order when scores match

Higher W score comes first.
At the same W score, a qualified league leader beats a non-leader.
If both lead the league, more leading categories wins.
If still tied: higher PER, then higher true shooting, then more games played.
If all of those match, alphabetical order is used only for display; the players remain statistically tied.

The nine eligible categories are PPG, RPG, APG, SPG, BPG, total made threes, FG%, 3P% and FT%. Shooting percentages use Basketball-Reference’s qualified leader tables. Published rank-one co-leaders all receive credit; equal rounded values alone do not create a tie. Turnovers do not earn a leader bonus.

Leader status is measured against the whole league. No player inherits first place when a leader misses the playoffs. Leader badges break score ties; they never add points to the W composite.
